Members jjpistols
don't pay attention to anyone who says your gear sucks I think looking at pedals makes sense for you first a pup swap might work out well, but DDs aren't crap - the set you have just may not be the perfect set for you - maybe check into some lower output pups if you add a pedal - the pedal will push the amp so you won't need a hot pickup to do the same
Members pink freud
a cool pedal for you to try out would be the bad cat xtreme tone. its a tube pedal, a little pricey, but based off the circuitry of the Hot Cat. i would bet my life that it can get those vintage tones, if that doesnt, you could try the other bad cat pedal, less output, even more vintage-esque.
