Members Gravity
... or could you only replace a dogear P-90 with another P-90 that came fitted with a dogear cover?
Members dewees
There are tabs from the base plate that go under the dog ear covers. Those tabs aren't there on soapbar types.
Members ajcoholic
Well, I had a set of soap bar Rio Grande P90's, and when I built my LP Jr I just ordered a set of dog ear covers for a few buckd from Stew Mac. They fit perfect! WHen I installed the dog ear version in the LP Jr I just routed the hole a littl deeper than the pickup and then put some foam under the pickup so when I screwed down the ears, the pickup was gently pressed up into the cover. It works great and totally fine. AJC
Members RomanS
I have a soap-par Seymour Duncan vintage P90 underneath a chrome dogear P90 cover on my homemade lap-steel - you just have to mount the P90 directly to the body, and then put the cove over it (so this won't work for a fully hollow-bodied guitar, where the dogear P90 is held in place by the tabs that are not found on soapbar types).
