I keep hearing it in all my metal songs, but I can't quite figure out how to make that chugga sound.

You can hear the chugga sound in One Gun.

Maybe once I get this down I'll be able to learn how to do the squeel!

surely the deedly weedly will come next

Are you talking about a palm mute in general?

Lightly muting it with the palm [i like to have most of my big ass palm on the bridge, and just have my skin contacting it] will give a slightly muted sound, putting oyur palm all the way on will give a deeper chunky sound to it.

Maybe I'm totally off :p

What you may be hearing is muting but not necessarily palm muting.

Sometimes you mute (touch) the strings in the chord shape that you are GOING to play, hit the strings a few times (both up and down strokes) with the pick, and then press the strings down to form the chord and hit the strings. You have to strum hard and fast to get the sound. You have to be careful to mute unwanted strings through the whole process too.

Should sound like chuck-a, chuck-a, WHAM!

i think you are meaning palm muting

take your palm (the part you would karate chop with) of your picking hand and rest it close to the bridge of your guitar, lightly against the strings.

then play some chords and you can push harder against the strings there by the bridge for more chugga, or less for less chugga.

you kind of mute the strings a little but not too much.

try chugging a simple low E until you get your picking hand used to it:
