Members bri6672
I have a tele that I bought used and it looks like the previous owners has drilled some extra holes for an aftermarket pickguard that was on it.I am going to put a stock pickguard on it and was thinking of filling in the old holes with some wood puddy that I have. Are there any pros or cons of doing this? Thanks for any feedback
Members Mighty Coogna!
I wouldn't bother with putty. Maybe a small brush and some shellac to seal the holes. Or maybe just some hardware store sanding sealer.
Members k4df4l
If the extra holes will be covered by the replacement pickguard, what's the point?

Yes, but leaving the holes will give it a lighter, airier tone. Almost like a semi-hollow...

Members angus_old
drill matching holes in the new pickguard, to hold it on tighter
Members axegrinder
If the holes are exposed I would drill them out to fit small dowel material (1/8") and fill them...for me that looks a lot cleaner than a putty patch. As somebody else said there's no need for filling holes under the bridge.
