No need to get nasty. We all know the Japanese make good guitars (and Tokai in particular), however just because it's a good guitar doesn't mean it will bring in the bucks. I'd say you'd be able to get about the same as they cost new--maybe $500-$800, but I'm no authority. I just sold a sweet Kramer Focus (MIJ) for $300. That was on the HIGH end of what they bring in, even though they were in the $600-$800 range new. The 80's MIJ guitars are great for buyers--inexpensive, quality (gig-worthy, IMO) instruments. They're certainly not going to be your pot of gold as a seller, though.

never said that they couldn't make guitars some great ones at that, but i don't think they will sell for that much used, and just because i don't like them don't really mean {censored} now does it? you asked why you were having problems selling it for the price you wanted, and i told you what i thought, if you don't like answers different from you own, then why ask in the first place, i didn't mean to hurt your feeling or anything, i didn't call it a pos, so why call me a fool, fool?

ok, without getting into Leopard{censored}s trolling...

First of all its value is going to depend on which model it is.

Vintage Tokais can range from 2-300 to 3000 dollars all depending on the model.

Also, I can tell you that to collectors, 85s arent that sought after.

At this point they are not using nitro laquer finishes and the more expensive woods that were found on the previous models.

What was the best offer you had on it?

Also, if youre looking for more info check out

by way of that site you can also find the Tokai forums by way of the registry

IMO thats rather high

550 sometimes can grab you an older LS80, complete with nitro finish and brazil rw (on some models)
