Others would be more knowledgable but I believe I've seen the older ones on Ebay go for that or even a few hundred more. I'd say $800 would be the least you should accept. We all know the Japanese make good guitars (and Tokai in particular), however just because it's a good guitar doesn't mean it will bring in the bucks. I'd say you'd be able to get about the same as they cost new--maybe $500-$800, but I'm no authority. I just sold a sweet Kramer Focus (MIJ) for $300. That was on the HIGH end of what they bring in, even though they were in the $600-$800 range new. The 80's MIJ guitars are great for buyers--inexpensive, quality (gig-worthy, IMO) instruments. Vintage Tokais can range from 2-300 to 3000 dollars all depending on the model. Also, I can tell you that to collectors, 85s arent that sought after. At this point they are not using nitro laquer finishes and the more expensive woods that were found on the previous models. What was the best offer you had on it?
