Members Beastly
Im looking to get a CasinoNatural finish would be ideal, but we shall see What i want to know is....are the $500 Korean models worth their money? Im not really prepared to throw the 2K at the Lennon one thats for sure, at this point anyway. Obviously, the $500 one is not gonna be as good, and i dont want to compare them, i just want to know if their wirth their tag at that price. Is it worth it or what a better alternative?I'd be willing to spend tops a grand, and just want a nice hollowbody for some different sounds. Members bad porcupine
I used to have a '98 or so Korean Casino. It was pretty nice; light-weight, great neck, easy to play, sounded real nice with some Lindy Fralin P90s in it... just wasn't into the hollow-body thing. Members Edward
The Korean semies and hollows really are superb - IMO very hard to beat for the money. The Epi Elitists are probably a touch bette,r but without playing them back to back, i would like to sday i could tell how much better. I'd be inclined to say go MIK if it's gonig to be a third, fourth or fifth guitar; if you main instrument, might be worth thinking elitist. I wouldn't be inclined to bother with the US model - lovely for sure, but too, too expensive for not enough difference IMO - YMMV.
Members spdolan
The Casino is a great guitar - the stock p90's are good enough for me - I play a variety from country to heavy Neil Young, and it is versatile enough for all of it and then some. Feedback issues do exist becuse of the hollow body, but thats where the sound is, too, so its a trade-off. For the bucks, its a great guitar. Members bad porcupine
The only thing that bugged me about mine was that the f-holes did not have binding, and you could see the wood ply on the edges... a minor quibble; I think it's a good guitar for the money, even better with some nice pickups swapped in. Members Beastly
thanks guys i had given some thought to the elitist, but its not really gonna be my main guitar. my bands much to heavy to use a hollow throughout the set, but we have more than a few slower/mellower songs that i think it could class up a little, tonewise. So from what im getting here, it sounds like its atleast worth its own tag. The F-hole thing sounds a little shoddy, but, i guess, what can you expect for that price i s'pose, considering everyhting else.
