Members pguillard
I have about 1G to send on a semihollow. I need a small body like a Gibson 336-but cant afford it. Ive looked at the old Ibanez AM series (which I like) but cant trust ebay. I want the traditional 335 body style though. Who else makes the smaller 335 body style? Who else makes the smaller 335 body style? Epiphone: Kat-series: Wildkat (P-90s), Alleykat (mini and regular humbuckers) Flamekat (gay red flames). These are the same size as a 336. http://cgi.ebay.com/Epiphone-Alleykat-Excellent-Condition-w-Hardshell_W0QQitemZ230011122778 http://cgi.ebay.com/Epiphone-Alleykat-Guitar-Rare-Tobacco-Sunburst-Superb_W0QQitemZ300009807907 Samick has the Royale series that are pretty nice RL-3, RL-4. BTW, I just saw the Charlie Daniels band and one of the guitarists, Bruce Brown, was playing one of these Samicks. He made it rock!BTW, I have a 336 and its smaller size makes it very comfortable to play. http://cgi.ebay.com/Samick-Greg-Bennet-Royale-RL3-Electric-Guitar_W0QQitemZ110015165989 My understanding of these guitars is as follows: The 336 back , sides , and center block are machined from a single piece of mahogany and the maple top is glued to that. The Epi guitars are made similarly except that the mahogany block is joined from two or three pieces and the pickups are suspenden in a single large cavity giving it more hollowbody-like characteristics. I had a Wildkat and it would feedback more than a true semi-hollow would.I believe the Samick's body is chambered from a single piece (probably joined) and the back and sides are glues to it. They are very attractive.

Who else makes the smaller 335 body style? So you want a small double cut semi? There are many options for single cuts, but doubles are fewer, once you get past the 336. I have bought 35 or so guitars off Ebay without any real issues. Do your homework, establish communications, be smart and you can have as good an experience as buying from a shop, IMHO.
