Members GAS Man
Apparently it was Ry Cooder who was playing the guitar parts of Ralphie Boy.That movie had its really good parts and a lot of really sappy Macchio parts. I want to watch it again some day, just cuz I didn't know who Vai was (or about Cooder for that matter) when that film was new.

Members Razsan
Nope....the only parts Cooder played was the slide. All the neo-classical licks were played by Vai..Arlen Roth will lie and say he did them....but HE DID NOT!!!!! He showed Macchio how to place his fingers...it as all Vai at the end (except for the slide part). BTW - Vai mentioned this in Guitar Player interview. From a Tab SiteEUGENE'S TRICK BAG)As recorded by Steve Vai & Ry Cooder(From the 2002 Album THE ELUSIVE LIGHT AND SOUND VOL. 1)Transcribed by www.mikesguitarsite.co.ukMusic by Steve Vai & Ry CooderGtr I (E A D G B E) - 'Jack Butler - Steve Vai (standard tuning)'Gtr II (D A D G B E) - 'Jack Butler - Steve Vai (drop D tuning)'Gtr III (D A D F# A D) - 'Eugene (Ralph Macchio) - Ry Cooder (open D Tuning w/slide)'Gtr IV (E A D G B E) - 'Eugene (Ralph Macchio) - Steve Vai (Standard tuning)' Originally posted by GAS Man Apparently it was Ry Cooder who was playing the guitar parts of Ralphie Boy. Members go cat go
I remeber eading that Cooder didn't play on the guitar duel at all. Vai played all the slide and neo-classical parts for all.
Members GAS Man
Okay, well at least I was partly right about Ry Cooder being in there. My second guess was going to be that Macchio's parts were actually played by Mr. Miyagi.

Members Bucker
The Vai part should have been played by the blond kid who got kicked in the face in Karate Kid. That would have made the movie!
