Members js1
I've got one. Love it. I was in the market for an 1176, had a deal lined up for a Rev H one that fell through, when a 6176 came up. You can run the 610 and 1176 part of the 6176 independently. Have my Great River feeding the 1176 side, and that is my "go to" chain. You have to be careful with the gain staging with the 610, since it's easy to run into distortion. Fortunately, they've added a 15 db pad to the mic input (it's not standard on all versions of the 610). The 1176 compressor gets used on almost everything going in. Even without compressing, I'll usually set it to a 1:1 ratio for the sound. I use the 610 as a guitar/bass DI, and for guitar amps. Haven't played with it much for vocals - kinda like the Great River for that. Now, I got a used 6176 at a real sweet price. For what I paid, nothing can touch it. If was was looking at list price, I'd still gravitate to an 1176 type compressor but see if I could get a more versatile preamp for the money. js
