Speaking for the "Special" version,

I'd say you get a little more than you pay for with this guitar. It seems solid and looks great, but like most guitars of this price range, it will benefit from a pickup upgrade of your choice.

When I first got the guitar it sounded a bit too bright and brittle for my tastes. I changed the strings to some GHS Eric Johnson "roller wound" nickel strings and that made it a tad bit too dull for my tastes, so I'm still experimenting with it.

I think I may eventuall put a Duncan Alnico II Pro in the neck and a DiMazio Pre B-1 in the bridge.

I have 3 other traditional teles so this was just one I bought for the halibut.

1. Yes.

2. Yes. However, I got mine on sale for $118, so for me very good deal! :thu:

3. Be aware that the body is thinner than a Fender (by maybe a quarter of an inch), and it is a string thru bridge vice string thru body, but it can scratch a tele itch on the cheap. Mine had fret ends that needed filing, but some do, some don't. At the price I paid, a few minutes of work to fix this, in addition to setting up, which was minimal, is par for the course.
