Members PRSnotPOS
Hello everyone. I am having a minor issue that I need a little help with. It might not even be a problem. The 5 way rotary knob in my PRS has recently started making a crunching noise (when not plugged into my amp) when I turn it. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if this is normal? I've had the guitar for over a year now, it's the one in my avatar. Also, does anyone know how to take one of these apart so I can clean it? Please let me know. Thank you. Members Prages
No idea. I've had my PRS for 13 years and the rotary knob works fine. Crunching doesn't sound like a good thing though.
Members Pablo Jose
As Prages said it's not looking good if it's doing that. It's not a big deal to replace it although they are not cheap. There are 2 types as well. Dunno if this will help you.http://www.gtrheaven.com/accessories/parts_PRS.asp?ar=1&m=PART-PRS&t=PRS+Guitar+Parts+and+Accessories
Members revans513
I would try some contact cleaner. Might just be dirty.
Members _pete_
I just replaced mine with a 3 way toggle and a push/push pot. It is so much better than the rotary. I can switch pickups much faster and I have 6 different combinations now. You may want to consider switching over to that setup.
