Moderators Ratae Corieltauvorum Posted December 14, 2006 Moderators Share Posted December 14, 2006 HUh? Members El Guapo
I think Les Paul Deluxe's came out in '69. EDIT: 1969 was the first year they were produced. Not 1968.
Members Roy Brooks
It has a volute, so it is definitely not a sixties model. However, some Deluxes did come from the factory with full sized humbuckings. Although this guitar is not a 1967 and more likely closer to 1977, if those pickups are original then it is indeed a rare bird.

Members kherman
It also has a multi piece neck and sandwich body whichwould lead me to believe it's a 70's Norlin era.
Members El Guapo
Well it's not from 1977 either. According to the gibson serial identification system. From 1975 onwards Gibson started using 8 digit serial #'s. The guy in the auction listed a 6 digit serial #. I think this one was made in 1973. Members Treborklow
All of the daters I use come up with 1967 based on that serial number. I don't remember that type of embossed serial number however. Looks odd. That oval circle doesn't look Gibson. I'm starting to think it's a fake. Members Lawton
He's edited the description to say that the guitar has been identified by Gibson as a '74-76 model, and that the pickups are not original.
