vintage truss rod vs. double action

On a cheap import lacking in documentation, how would I know which type of truss rod I have? Does the double expanding behave differently from a vintage? Thanks all of you guys who passed shop class.

Behave differently? Yes. Adjusted differently? No. Inside the guitar, the double expanded works slightly different, but it is adjusted the same and gives the same end affect.

Most cheaper guitars have vintage, they are cheaper to manufacture and sell, less parts, less joints.

No easy way to tell what is there (maybe be checking the truss nut, but ou have to know what is on which rod), the double-expanding is heavier takes up significantly more space inside the neck, but that doesn't help you without a reference to compare to for weight.

Remember, you give it 24 hours between *each* adjustment. It takes that long for the neck to settle before you can really see how the change affect it.

Don't keep adjusting it and adjusting it because you can't see an immediate difference.
