Members TroyK
I'm planning on using some of DaVinci's sketches as the artwork for my album (the concept is paradigm shifts). I was wondering if I am allowed to do this or if his sketches are copryrighted. I know music can be used freely once the artist has been dead for X amount of years but is artwork the same?-Troy
Members BlueStrat
I'm pretty sure after 500 years, it's in the public domain.

Members TroyK
I found something concrete anyway: "In the United States, Australia and the European Union the copyright term equals the life of the artist plus 70 years."

Let's see - Leonardo died in 1519...yep, you're good!
Members guitarrorist
I could be wrong, but isn't the photograph of the sketch subject to copyright? You would probably want to make sure that the photograph is in public domain if so.
