Members willowoak
Your guitar (SG Classic) has P90's I believe. It's hard to get a real thick fuzzy distortion with those pickups, though not impossible if your into alot fx. My personal philosophy is: less gear (pedals, rack units, etc) the better. I would start with a guitar that has hot pickups such the Gibson 496R, 500T combo. Those pickups through a 100w or more tube amp and an attenuator like a hotplate, or powersoak will get you a nice, thick authentic fuzz.

Their "lead" guy was playing a p-90 goldtop and they were getting their usual brutal-sabbath 2.0 guitar tone.
