Members indigoguy
hi, so i'm looking at semi/hollow guitars and tried out the epiphone casino, was quite liking it but it felt really flimsy (in comparison to the gretsch electromatic i also tried) was wondering if anyone else had one and whether you had any problems with them in terms of build quality. Also has anyone done a comparison with a riviera, can't seem to find any locally and was just thinking i might prefer the pickups....cheers
Members studdhuss
If I had to go with what I thought was a better build, better set-up right out of the box, and needed a thick guitar with a thick look, I would definitely Choose the Gretsch Electromatic 5120 anyday. For $599 that monster can't be beat.only problem I find with the Epi Casino is the Tuners and the bridge.Down right lousy.Epiphone has some great guitars but in essence uses some crappy bridges and completely screwed Asian Klusen never worked in the first place tuners.Makes you cry to spend $599 on a guitar then have to turn right around, set it up, and keep tuning every 5 minutes.Just avoid that and get the Gretsch. You'll thank everyone including yourself at the end of the day. Members indigoguy
Thanks for the reply yeah my heart is leaning towards the gretsch, there is just something damn satisfying about playing it, my only real worries are upper fret access due to the single cut and size of the neck heel and whether it will be uncontrollably feedbacky for using in my bands louder sections (i love good feedback but i also like playing big chords through distortion..)
