Members apostrophe
My Dot needs a setup BAD! I heard that MM used a really good offsite tech. He still there? Anyone know any other techs in the Philly area, preferrably outside the city?
Members ballhawk
As far as I know they still have him. Give them a call. If I remember, Ill ask our drummer when I see him tonight. He works there.

Members finite11
Go to the guitar center in oxford valley. They have a new tech named mike who does incredible work. He's a certified luthier. I normally would never go there for setups but this guy is great.
Members leftwing73
You could try Audrick at George's Music North Wales. Assuming he's still there, he does great work.

Members Busk
In 2003, Medley re-fretted my '79 strat and gave my Rick 4001 a tune up: action, set up, clean up electronics. All the work was excellent, but I don't know which tech did it.
Members ballhawk
According to our drummer the offsite tech at Medley is the same guy who has been there for years and he is still there. I forgot to ask his name but I have heard good things about him, although I've never used their tech services.
Members apostrophe
Thanks guys! Looks like "Dave" is still doing the work over at Medley. They also have the best prices, surprisingly. Looks like I'll go with MM. Is it ridiculous to get a new bone nut to replace the lame black plastic one? It would be about $60 just to have the nut cut and installed. Really the black one bothers me just cus it looks like {censored}, not because it gives me problems. But I have to imagine a new nut would help in other ways as well? ?
Members finite11
No...It is not ridiculous. It would actually be a very wise move.

Members mc5nrg
My take on your nut is that if it ain't broke don't fix it. In other words, if you aren't having nut related problems....strings binding, intonation problems due to nut slots not cut deep enough, etc., most of which can be taken care of with a bit of filing, what are you expecting to gain?. While certain nut materials are considered "better", if what you have is working fine leave it alone.Once you fret the tonal attributes of the nut material are minimal. About a decade or more ago, Medley sent their work to Dale Bluebond (RIP Dale)/Bluebond in Philadelphia. I surmise from some of these posts that probably changed. As for my experience working for the Rosenblooms no comment.
Members apostrophe
Who are the Rosenblooms? No, I'm not having any nut problems....it just pains me to see that cheap ass black plastic nut sitting on an otherwise very fine guitar. Every time I open the case I see it, staring at me. Taunting me!

I saw a LOT of Bluebond guitars and basses - that guy was really talented and a shame he died.
Members Goldtopper
That name sounded familiar from somewhere, so I found this on Google: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ibanez They were involved with Ibanez early on. Is there a problem?
