Members New Trail
I saw an ad in Vintage Guitar magazine. Guitars look cool. Strat or Tele shape with maple or rosewood with humbuckers or P90 for less than $200!?! Has anyone tried these? Are they any good?
Members orzklegbok
Use the search function - advanced, look for threads, not posts, in the Electric Guitar Forum - there were MANY threads on the subject - LOTS of people bought them. Not trying to be snarky - just informative
Members GASSER
I bought one of the Teles with P90s. It's okay for the money but I'm not crazy about it. Pickups are good, neck is good, tuners aren't very good, lots of minor flaws in fit & finish. On mine, the nut slots are cut too close together so it'll need a new nut before it can be a good player. Also, the pickup switch is in an awkward location.... easy to hit it accidentally while strumming. QC seems to be pretty inconsistent on these guitars.... I wouldn't buy another one without inspecting it first. For a few $$ more, I'd rather have a Squier Vintage Modified tele or a Tele Custom II. The Tusq replacement for a Strat is a perfect fit. Took me about 30 mins to swap
Members theaxeripper
I just traded my XV-800 tele copy. I put it up on the FS forum a few days ago and plugged it in for the first time since I bought it a few months ago, to make sure everything worked. It actually plays suprisingly well and the pickups sound great through my Champ 600. On the 600's low input cranked to 10, it gave a really nice slightly overdriven blues sound.
