Members headstash
It basically comes down to better quality healthcare for 85% and none for 15% in a free market versus lesser quality healthcare for everyone in a national healthcare system. Most people in the 85% majority just don't care enough about the 15% to reduce their own quality of healthcare, even if it would cost them less. Agreed. Its not as if the quality of medicine would become unacceptable. Currently the US sits right above Cuba as the 35th best healthcare system in the world. Considering the 30 year embargo that has limited US technology and medicine to making it to their shores, thats a pretty sad stat.
Members CrashC
Answered my own question about why gas is so expensive in the UK - http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8994313 Between approximately 65 and 75 percent of the price of gasoline in the U.K. is taken as taxes. U.S. drivers are paying a seemingly paltry 27 percent of their gas bill to the government.
