Members slashdot
Hello, I'm having a difficult time getting my tone where I want it in live performances. In our practice space I can pretty much get the right tones with the right crunch. We tend to play small venues (20-30 in the audience). Our style is indie rock/alt-country/folk rock. I play bass, lead guitar and backing vocals. I primarily play a lot of fills and some lead work. My rig is as follows; Guitar: 1999 Fender American Series Hot Rod Fat Tele ->Chain: Boss TU-2 -> Ibanez TS-909 w/ Robert Keeley Mod Plus -> Ibanez DE-7 -> MXR M-108 ->Amp: 1959 Fender Bassman Reissue The sound has been described to me as "too bright" or thin sometimes ... How do I really make that mid growl come through? Thanks!
Members Standard8
Telecasters are sort of known for the brightness. You may want to consider getting another guitar if you don't like the sound. There are things you can do to tweek your sound but ultimately it's going to sound like a telecaster because that's what you are playing. Only way around that is a modeler like a line 6 or something like that.
Members Brick
EQ it better, youve got one. IS there an effects loop in a Bassman? if so put the eq in the loop, it will get you much better results, than just having it out front
Members Standard8
The guitar might sound fine on second thought, but you have no mid-range in the mix in your band. If you have just a bass and a tele, it's going to sound really bright in contrast of the lack of any midrange instrument/tones in the song.
