Members bemymonkey
Hi everyone, I was just browsing my favorite online-shop and noticed that Yamaha have brought out a new Pacifica 112v (probably a while ago) with specs similar to the 412v... as an avid 812v player (AWESOME guitar), I'm thinking of picking up a 112v to turn into a metal monster (because the 812v sounds a little too bright for that with the maple cap and all). My main question here: Is the neck joint rounded, like on the more expensive 412v/612v/812v models? Or is it the same square block neck joint found on the other 112 models and Fender MIM Strats? Any other remarks about the 112v? Anybody notice anything interesting about it?
Members LaXu
The 812V has a maple veneer top. It doesn't have much of an effect on tone.
Members bemymonkey
Actually, it's a solid maple cap that's about 8mm thick... I've owned this thing for a while.
Members LaXu
Are you sure about that? Because the ones I've looked at seemed like the maple top was only cleverly masked - the grain lines of the flamed top didn't continue on the edges and the grain on the edges followed the rest of the body, which would make it alder with a flamed maple veneer and faux binding.
