Members Mudder1310
This will sound crazy but the Switch Stealth series is really solid, especially with a pickup swap. The Oscar or Aurora are both pretty tame looking compared to some of their weirder designs, but they play great.
Members bluesmann
there is nothing that plays better than the Godin performance series guitars. 24 3/4 " scale 12" radius. I have 3. 2 sd's and a exit 22 and the price ranges from 350-450 here's a clip of the exit 22 http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=234035&content=songinfo&songID=6033187
Members streetknight
I vote for the Michael Kelly Patriot Black. $469.00 new. The Rockfield pups are awesome. Coil Tapped, Ebony board, Mahogany body with maple cap, tone pros bridge, Grover Tuners, set neck. These are just awesome guitars.
Members bdegrande
Epiphone Elitist SG or LP. Exceptional MIJ guitars. New, I like the suggestions of Godin and Michael Kelly.
Members Eddie
Lots O good advice and opinions so far- Here's mine (based on 25+ years as a professional guitar tech) There's lots of good guitars @ your price point-due to advances in CNC machinery. That last 10-25% comes down to skilled labor, and string/pickup choices... ...My point? get something well made, from good wood, and get it set up professionally to your tastes... Good points. That's one reason why I suggested Yamaha. I've had a couple of guitars and a bass, ranging in price from around $300 to $1600. It did not matter where the guitar was made or the list price, their quality control was consistently good. If I had the money I would bid on the Pacifica 1412 currently on eBay. From the time when Pacificas were expensive What a beauty!
