Members nuke_diver
So I'm going to jam with a bass player tonight. This will be the first time I've played with anyone other than my teacher. I'm not sure how good he is but I'm not so great What are some tips for making this easy and fun? I'm hopeful that this will help me get to the next level in my playing Thanks! Members rgb338
relax, don't let your shoulder tense up, tap your foot, try to play off his rhythm instead of the other way around. When you walk in tell him you're chuck berry in a white suit. Play easy progressions, blues is always the easiest, find songs you have in common. Go for soul! Members nuke_diver
Hehe I know the guy somewhat so I should be relaxed. Musically I'm not sure what to do since his interests musically are more metal and I can't play that fast

Members Adam Explosion
Just have him show you stuff that he's come up with and vice versa...this is not only the best way to write {censored} but it's also great for you two to get used to each other. Save the 30 minute jazz odysseys for a later day.
