Members 59humbucker Posted May 19, 2008 Members Share Posted May 19, 2008 The only real differrences between the R8 and 9's are that the R9 has a flamed top (current r8's are plain tops, though you could get a flamed r8 a few years ago) and the r8 tends to have a bigger neck. the r9 tends to be a bit lighter weight as well. regarding the playability, its a personal thing. Many players prefer the bigger necks, while some find them unmanagable, the r7's particularly can be huge You will pay nearly double for the r9 Other guitars you may like would be the R0 (exactly like the R9 but with a slimmer neck) and the GO (guitar centre exclusive, identicle to the R0 but plaintop and priced like an R8) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
