Members elsupermanny14
Ok so everyone talks about how Orange amps are much louder then they are rated. So how loud is a 30 watt orange amp? How loud is it in comparison to a Marshall 50watt amp? I know this is a hard question to answer and I apologize for that ahead of time, but I'm very curious. Members Saturn
There is very little difference in volume. The difference is the amount of volume before you get break up. With the same speakers there is only a couple dB difference in actual voulume.
Members mick8882003
You need a ten fold increase in wattage to double the sound, so not far off really. Mick
Members elsupermanny14
I understand the rule of ten when it comes to loudness in tube amps. I guess I'm trying to ask what makes Orange amps sound louder then their power ratting? People always make the remark that Orange amps are much louder then their wattage rattings, so I'm curious what is meant by that? Does that mean the amp is actually pushing out say 40 or 50 watts rather then 30?
Members Saturn
I don't think they are actually louder. I've played through a few Orange amps. I think people are suprised with the amount of voulume they get out of their Tiny Terrors and so on. I've had many amps over the years and I don't think a 30w Orange is any louder than my old Marshall JTM running at 30w.
