Strat Whammy Bar in Case

Do you guys remove the whammy bar before storing or transporting your strat in its case?

 

I have an 08 AM Std and when I put the guitar in its case with the tremolo in place, the lid of the case depresses the bar. Is this ok? and I damaging anything by doing this.

 

Sorry for what must be a noob question, but I haven't been a strat owner that long.

I take mine off, always worried it will bang around and cause damage if attached while transporting the guitar in my car.

I would definitely take off the arm. Sort of a hassle, but it's much safer. Don't want to hyper-extend the bridge.

I've had two Strats. I took the arm off each upon their purchase and put them in the case very good. Never used 'em at all.

 

But - yeah - I'd definitely take it off and store it in the "case candy compartment" for transport.

I blocked my bridge so the arm has been in the case forever.

Thanks, I have been taking it off to put it in the case, but its a bit of a pain in the arse. So I thought maybe I could get away with not doing it but I definitely don't want anyone injured.

I bend the arms on all of my Strats. As such, I can swing the arm around to the rear for when it goes in the case. The tip just barely touches the body, so I take a polishing cloth and place it inbetween. It's worked fine for years. If I were pushing too hard on the trem, I would definitely take the bar off.
