  1. And yes, I did indeed spend my 21st buying vinyl and sitting in a pub alone. And it was great.
  2. Someone always has to get leary. Back on topic, scored these for my 21st birthday for less than a tenner each. Well pleased.
  3. Oh, and as a point of curiosity/consumer advice, I don't actually own a record player. Anyone recommend a reasonable system to play them on? Would quite like a stand-alone unit since all my cassettes are rubbish and a CD player would be redundant.
  4. My collection isn't huge, but it's basically just bands I like from that era.(60s-90s). Got a few valuable ones that I picked up purely by chance on markets and local shops. And recently I came into a plethora of vinyl since my grandfather passed. Took out everything I liked (War of the Worlds, some Beatles 7" and a load of Shadows) and sold the rest. Collection consists mainly of Alice Cooper, Rush, Ozzy, Scorpions, Floyd, Maiden, Dio/Rainbow and a bit of Saxon. Plus a few other one offs like Skid Row.
  5. You mean John Waters? Okay, I really want to see it now! Does he make Tom Cruise eat some dog {censored}? I thought it was Adam Shankman? Honestly, I'm just checking IMDb since I recall seeing "From the director of Hairspray" on an ad plastered on a bus I got stuck behind on the motorway. EDIT: Just looked up John Waters. He wrote the screenplay for Hairspray, but didn't direct. I think Justin Theroux and some other guys wrote Rock of Ages.
  6. Allow me to reiterate: "From the director of HAIRSPRAY"
  7. When debating whether or not to see this movie, "From the director of Hairspray" gave me a vital clue... I have not seen it. I will not see it.
  8. The guitars have been recovered http://www.mercurynews.com/news/ci_20416755/police-recover-tom-petty-stolen-guitars Awesome! All is well with the world again Thanks for keeping us updated!
  9. Yeah...if frankthomson was the 'leader' of this new world...and then, of course, he'd settle it all *old school*. Like how does *old school* work? Do you paste wanted signs up in all of the villages? Do you get a good horse and go search for the thieves while wearing a six-shooter and a set of chaps with a big hat? Do you tell the sherriff? Good think frank said "i like to show u kids how stupid u look". I was really hoping he'd go for the dyslexia excuse Besides, violence would be counter-productive. In this case, it'd show a flaw in perception of the situation, like it usually does. Smashing that which has slighted you is the most simplistic and barbaric course of action. We're highly evolved and/or intelligently created beings, after all. We can solve things better than that.
  10. and i *want* a million $$$$ ur point? You didn't have a million dollars -that you earned- stolen from you.
  11. i didnt say it was right. i think the reward thing was tacky....awwww poor millionaire got ripped off lets all pity the poor MULTI-millionaire did someone steal his mansion and lear jet too? So basically, they're not allowed to want their guitars back?
  12. On a semi-related note, does anyone know where I might get my hands on the Storytellers TV thing? I have the album, but I'd quite like to watch it if it exists as a video. Tom's commentary is as interesting as it is amusing.
  13. So what exactly IS your point, if you have one? That if someone is successful, it's okay to steal their {censored}? That's a moronic position to take. He's just being a contrarian. It's quite childish, really. In his mind, he's saying "don't cry over spilled milk"; trying to make the point that Tom can go out and buy more. His superiority complex tells him that to acknowledge a sentimental attachment to an inanimate object is stupid, which of course, it isn't. For example: my most sentimental guitar is my first, given to me by my dad from his own personal collection. I can't express the sense of elation and pride I felt when I finished restoring it a few months ago. I'd never consider selling it, and if anything were to happen to it I would be devastated. If I may take a cheap shot at Frank... Learn to use a {censored}ing keyboard. There's no excuse for illiteracy in the first-world. If you're from my generation, then you're reaffirming the stereotype that we're apathetic, lazy wasters. If you're older... Then that's just terrible.
  14. Oh, and it was a Broadcaster, not a Nocaster.
  15. u cant take em with u, bra. I can damn well try
