  1. Its also notable that I got the 1820m at wholesale cost, so I was actually able to make money on the deal by selling the 1010 and my lexicon reverb on eBay. -JS
  2. Are you sure? Any chance of this being in your head? Any chance your recording different music with different people or different songs? Are you 100% certain that your Emu sounds better than the Delta 1010? If so, is this "better" something that is always better or is it more a creative thing where the Delta 1010 may be better for certain things? Well, it may be in my head:freak: - but I remember I had done some comparison tracks. It was definitely not night and day - the 1010 is no slouch and I produced recordings on it that people really liked. I had it for a really long time - that things been out at least 5 years now, right? The 1820m is more flexible with the lightpipe (I hooked up an 8channel pre), better mixer, and built-in effects. The "better sounding" converters were just icing for me. I wanted to go 16 channels and sell my outboard reverb. Its really true that either unit can be used by experienced engineers to make good recordings. -JS
  3. Here's a confusing post for you. I sold my 1010 and bought an 1820m. Now that the Emu drivers are fairly stable, its cool. However, that took a while. I did notice a "better" sound to the converters - crisper, you might say, or more natural sounding to my ear. I actually really like the emu patchmix application - way more flexible than the Delta mixer - which is nearly useless by comparison. Also, the built-in effects in patchmix allowed me to sell my outboard reverb unit. Its good enough to send a little reverb to singers monitors during vocal takes, but not for final mixes. All that being said, the 1820m has been discontinued. -JS
