Members JasmineTea
I've tried a few things; Plastic lids from to-go coffee, matchbook cover, guitar picks, credit card, etc. Any other suggestions?
Members digitalsnipe
From a folio/report cover with clear acetate cover. Or, art stores sell acetate in pads - like sketch pads - but it isn't cheap.
Members FingerBone Bill
Why shim a saddle when a new saddle is so cheap?? OR - if you must go the shim route - sand a new saddle down until you are left with a shim - it'll be the same material so should sound ok! Members d28andm1911a1
shims should be the same material as the saddle or the bridge.shims should be glued to the saddle and sanded to fit.Better to replace the saddle unless it's old ivory then use the same material as the bridge. Members Cldplytkmn
actually the best thing to do would be to buy a new saddle... then cut a shim off of it the thickness that you want... no trimming!
