Members chenmeister
I just got a Takamine ean10c from guitar center a couple weeks ago. It was on clearance because it was heavily abused (because of the lack of a pick guard) because of being loaned out. So, i want to put on a pick guard to cover up the damage and i was wondering what color would be nice. this is what i have http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/7/3/3/272733.jpg i picked up a pickguard from a nearby shop which looks like this one http://www.pbase.com/chirpy_72/image/18087789 i think it looks nice in dim light or at a side. (it takes on a darkish brown color) but in bright light it's just red. i think that red is a bit random for my guitar.. but many people seem to have it. any suggestions? thanks ~chenmeister
Members DonK
The tortoise guards do tend to have a reddish tint, but darker (browner) ones are available, and there's always plain old black. You could also look at one of those brown "dalmatian" style - not my cup of tea, but some like it. Here's a good place to browse: http://www.maurysmusic.com/guitar_pickguards
Members happy-man
Sorry I don't have any pick guard advice for you. But I just thought I'd respond with a congratulations on the guitar. I really like that model Tak. Scott O
Members chenmeister
ahah thanks happy-man. i really love it. i liked it even better than the expensive martins and taylors. i found another model of the takamine (tan15C) which is almost the same as mine except with a pickguard http://www.dolphinmusic.co.uk/shop_image/product/c821141627999255f341d6528d0777b0.jpg however from a different lighting, the pickguard gives a red color opposed to the dark shade of brown in the previous picture. http://www.woodbrass.com/images/woodbrass/TAKAMINE+TAN15C.JPG is it popular to have this color of pickguard with this shade of cedar top? i think it looks ok, but do you guys think the red stands out a bit or is a bit random? thanks a lot ~chenmeister~
