  • Godins dual humbucker 5 way switching. Anyone know how it works?

    I'm asking because I just purchased a Godin LG Signature (waiting for it) and want to know what to expect with the switching. I have searched long and hard but cant get any definitive information on positions 2 and 4. Here is what I know...

    1=bridge bucker
    2=split something? (could be bridge alone)
    3=both buckers
    4=split something? (could be neck alone)
    5=neck bucker

    I would assume as well that positions two and four are split coil.
    No sig.

      I've decided I'm going to rewire it this way regardless...

      1=bridge bucker
      2=bridge bucker, neck split
      3=both split
      4=neck bucker, bridge split
      5=neck bucker

        FWIW I've wired a guitar the way you want to wire it and, again, FWIW your sounds at position 2,3 & 4 are very very similiar. There are subtle differences but not that much. It's like three versions of the same sound. Why not try the factory wiring first and see how you like that before you start rewiring?

          That's a good idea. I am very partial to a bucker combined with a split single with these combinations but I'll give the stock configuration a go.

            Go to YouTube. There are lots of demos there.

              I looked, nothing definitive...? Weird.

                Don't know how they wire the 5-way on those for sure, but great guitar regardless! I had one of the early model LG's with buckers, but at that time they only put 3-way switches on them. If the neck on that model is anything like the one that LG had you should like it. I remember it feeling like a big fat neck with a very flat radius which should suit your big hands.

                    I've checked Godin's website and found the following pickup configuration:

                    Pos.1 neck humbucker
                    Pos.2 neck split (outer coil)
                    Pos.3 both humbuckers
                    Pos.4 bridge split (outer coil)
                    Pos.5 bridge humbucker

                    Here's the page in question: http://www.godinguitars.com/manual_summit.pdf. I suppose this model is more or less similar to the one you've bought.

                      That's how my FlatFive is wired too.
                      Probably a lot of Godins use this wiring .
