Members Megadeth7684
What amps and guitars do these guys play, their stuff is in B and A on 6 string guitars, and the tone is so clear and heavy. It isn't muddy at all. I'm refering to the second album by the way.
Members blargh
That tone is goddamn brutal... Sounds really saturated, maybe solid state. Doesn't Dan Swano usually use some high gain distortion pedal?
Members TechMetalMan
I heard for the first album they ran a long chain of multiple distortion pedals that were popular during the 90's death metal days into an amp (forgot which one). This could have been a rumor, but maybe not and maybe they did the same thing for the second one.
Members Megadeth7684
Hmm, well I know for Swano's solo album he used some cheap ass modeler, but he was in E and drop D for that, and the tone isn't as good as the second Bloodbath album. I've seen him playing an Ibanez guitar before, maybe an RG?
Members Nutter
That is amazing tone indeed. With both Tagtgren and Swano on board though you just know the tone is going to own.
Members Beergoblin
I was wondering what amps he used myself. He had a link/address on his website where you could try emailing him, the last couple of times I've been on that site though its been under construction. Check it out mang! Members pretaanluxis
when I tune to A my strings start sounding like bass strings because of the thickness required

Members rawhedrex
the tone on that second album is very much the dude from katatonias tone - i think he calls himself blackheim or something. - He had a band called diabolical masquerade - the tone was very similair. as far as i know - he was the guitarist for bloodbath - swano was the drummer. Members godofmetalguita
i want to know that...i will eventually post a thread specific to what my tone is like. I play in A# and its tough. i think i need thicker strings, and less gain always helps.

Members euclid
www.bloodbath.biz Swano and Anders Nystrom aka Blackheim (Blakkkheim is his eBay user name) regularly chat up the users on the forum AND usually offer first choice when it comes to personal equipment sales and stuff. Pretty cool guys. Tone on Resurrection through Carnage = Boss Heavy Metal (before it became Metal Zone) As far as Blackheim's guitar sound. He uses a custom built guitar from ES guitars: http://www.esguitars.com/ (he's the goofy fella on the front page covered in a blood (paint) soaked t-shirt - pic taken at Wacken Metal Fest.) Diabolical Masquerede - Death's Design is one of the best albums EVER in my opinion!

It's also a pretty good laugh.
Members lefchr
My tone stays clear with the baritone when tuned to B and dropped A the few times I gone down to that.

Members Gaindrain
It's not THAT hard to get a clear tone in A-tuning. I have my jackson in A# right now (god knows why). I just add a lot of high-end and cut a lot of low end. Tweak to perfection with an external EQ et voila: clear and tight sound. That's on a regular jackson 6-string. Members Megadeth7684
Hmm, I see a 5150 in the background behind Nystrom in that pic. Swamo played guitar on the second album, the first album he was on drums.

Well, I'll just wait until the Wacken DVD is released to hear how Bloodbath sounds through them.
Members Panopticon
Who knows, but those ES guitars are the ugliest guitars I have ever seen. How can they even get any business with this crap?
Members shredhead666
When's the Wacken DVD coming out? I would LOVE to go to that festival one year, but plane tix to Germany are quite pricey.
Members BOOGIE666
probably because they use a baritone, so are you going to buy my ESP / LTD GL-600FB yet????Its very clear with its duncan J.B. in the bridge.

You won't believe how big the difference is before you try. Absolutely true. With my ESP 27" scale baritones I use 12-52 DYL GHS Boomers with no trouble at all in regards to staying in tune and stable intonation. My tone remains tight, focused and articulate in B tuning and a healthy amount of Recto / 5150 gain. I really recomend trying one of these if you are going to make a habit of tuning any lower than C. Just my opinion.
