  • Getting good nasty grindcore tone

I am currently recording a demo and I a using the following stuff:

    - Logic 9

    - LePou LeGion (all setting at noon, except for gain)

    - LeCab with God's Cab Impulses

I am getting good tone with these, but frankly, it all sounds a little... tame and clean. I am not looking for that ultra modern sound, but am looking for more dirt and grind, just rip your face off nasty (yet still efined as it has still got a lot of melodic playing). I have no idea how to achieve this. I do not have any pedals, apart from some VST's.

    Anyone got any ideas?

So, using a real amp is out of the equation? Honestly, something like a Peavey Bandit ss practice amp with the gain maxed would get you on the ballpark.. The old bands prolly did use distortion pedals into gained out amps. Which at the time weren't that high gain.. So maybe use the jcm 800 or better yet 900 emulation and hit it with different dirt boxes.. Basically you need the low end to be more undefined and distorted to get that old late 80's grind tine
    SPAM

-Dimarzio Paf 7-$45 or trade for a Duncan custom 7

-Mick Thomson Blackouts set- $110 or $100 for just pickups, no pots/harnesses

emg 81 or 85. $50. I'm keeping one, so whichever one sells first..

    -Ibanez Ts9- like new $60

-Modded ProCo Rat (pm for info) $70

    pm for pics

    Good transactions with- too many.

Lay a dirty bass track underneath.

Would this be considered dirty enough? https://soundcloud.com/hottkarl/untitled-grind

Unfortunately, I don't have one and they are hard to come by these days. Is there a way to emulate this (VST or EQ settings?)

Not sure but I've been wanting one, instant Entombed.
