  • Hair metal cover band setlist

Hi HC, I have not posted here in a long time !!

I am about to start a hair metal cover band with friends.  This is only for fun and we do not intend to play festivals or things like that.  We will play in local small bars.

I have started by putting together a list of songs.  I do not intend to play them all, not sure how many songs will be selected yet.

I was wondering if you guys could share your thoughts on this project.  If you have ideas on tunes we could add that would be great.  I feel like I am missing important hair metal classics.  I've been looking at top 100s sites and blogs on the web and I think so far the list is getting there.

Let me know what I should add to the list !!!

    Etienne.

For Steel Dragon, I really like the over-the-top vocals. It's like a caricature of the hair metal genre, this is why I thought it had its place in the list.

Careless Whisper ? the George Michael version?
Is this a test to see if we're paying attention?

it looks fairly comprehensive however :
~You're missing Autograph "Turn Up the Radio"
~ get rid of Motley Crue "Angela". Nobody cares about that. "Livewire", that's the one !
~ plenty of Ugly Kid Joe but no Guns n Roses?

~ "Wheel in the Sky" seems like more of a 70s thing IMO.

~ I don't know what Whitesnake "Your'e Gonna Break My Heart Again" is. Are you American? Here in the states that would be "Slide it In" or "Still of the Night".

Good catch on careless whisper.  It's actually a joke song, the singer is pretty good at making parody version with ridiculous 80s style vocals.

I actually had paradise city in the list, but itunes removed the song from the playlist.  Let me do some cleanup based on the feedbacks I have had so far.

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

If you're gonna do Steel Dragon-type "parody" stuff, you may as well throw in a Steel Panther song or two.  Those guys are tearing it up these days.
