Members -todgemistro-
Hopefully someone here can help me out with this as it's getting rather frustrating. For a few months I've been having this problem every so often with my Vox V847. Sometimes when turned on, it doesn't make a wah sound. Instead when the toe is up, I just get loads of feedback. When toe is down it sounds like my tone pot is rolled all the way down. What component failure does this most likely describe and how much/how easy would it be to sort out myself? Thanks
Members WRGKMC
Hard to say. My first guess would be the switch or the wiring from the jacks. Second would be a cracked solder joint on the board, possibly around the coil. Not as familure with the Vox wahs as the Dunlops. The dunlops bottom cover can bend easily and touch the circuit board and short. I'd take the cover off and do a close inspection if need be, clean the switch, then you can wiggel components on the boards a littel and see is they are securly soldered when watching the traces and see if theres any bad solder joints. Members -todgemistro-
Checked all of those points, nothing is loose or with poor joints. Everything still shiny and solid. Could it be the pot that's broken?
Members Pope on a Rope
The pot may just be in need of a cleaning. I'd give it a few shots of lubricated contact cleaner before doing anything that involves tools.
