Members G Geezer
The "feud myth" was further fueled with the Drive-By Truckers 2002 album "Southern Rock Opera" song "Ronnie and Neil": And out in California, a rock star from Canada writes a couple of great songs about the bad {censored} that went down "Southern Man" and "Alabama" certainly told some truth But there were a lot of good folks down here and Neil Young wasn't around Now Ronnie and Neil became good friends their feud was just in song Skynyrd was a bunch of Neil Young fans and Neil he loved that song So He wrote "Powderfinger" for Skynyrd to record But Ronnie ended up singing "Sweet Home Alabama" to the lord

Members Jeff da Weasel
THe rumor has it that Ronnie was buried wearing his "Tonight's the Night" Neil Young t-shirt. Still, to have your FREAKIN NAME in a state's tourism theme song (and not in a good way) has to be a, shall we say, unique experience.

Members elsongs
Lynyrd Skynyrd song to be tourism theme That doesn't bother me. It's for general tourism and commerce for the State, and not for a particular corporate entity. But then who really wants to go to Alabama for a vacation? Members Hard Truth
Call me old fashioned, but a song defending George Wallace, a rabid segregationist racist, doesn't sit well with me. Yes, he tempered his views in his later years, but its his racism that made him popular. I don't like naming things after Malcom X either.
