Members bp
I'm doing an A1 gig for a cage fighting show on Saturday. I'm not new to TV but this is unlike anything I've done before. I'm planning on using a pair of Beta 91s under the cage to capture the floor impact (much like a kick drum). I may also sidechain those mics through a resonant filter to enhance the low end. Shotguns on close cameras to get the basic action will fill out the bouts. Any other ideas?? http://www.uwcmma.com/
Members Jeff da Weasel
Watch out for too much low end on the floor mics. Not everyone has huge home theatre subs, and that will fart out little TV speakers.
Moderators Lee Knight Posted October 8, 2008 Moderators Share Posted October 8, 2008 I'd experiment with PZM's on the fight surface, perhaps in opposite corners. It might be absolutely the wrong thing (resonant mess), but then again. IMPACT. Then, besides the on camera shotguns, I'd make sure you have some sort of stereo, cross cage pickup. Do you have tha audience covered?
Members Jeff da Weasel
Do you have tha audience covered? Yes! You absolutely must get the sound of screaming morons to make sure the TV viewer feels at home with his brethren.
Members bp
Probably 6 to 8 AR mics in addition to shotguns mounted on cameras, 2 commentator headsets and a couple of wireless handhelds for ring announce. Maybe some cheap omni lavs hidden around the ring. Now if only Blurfle Sneep would defend his title.......
