I've Been Asked To Do Some Session Vocals

Cool mate. Which songs?

:thu:

They're his original songs and he's sent me 5 demos so far. They definitely have a Beatles vibe and they're very good tunes :)

He's singing on them but he wants someone else to take over lead vocal duties on the final cuts. He's quite a good singer actually and a great harmoniser. I feel under pressure now!

Makes sense to me. I always thought your voice has some
Lennonesque
qualities without sounding like you are deliberately trying to sound like Lennon (if that makes any sense
:confused::D
).

Thanks for the compliment :)

This guy seems to be of a similar opinion

I've done tons and tons and tons of sessions like these over the years, as a singer, a guitarist, a bassist, a MIDI programmer, and so on. Enjoy it, and enjoy getting paid to sing. It's always surprising to me when people give me actual money to do what I love.
:)

What's bothering me is that I'll make a complete balls-up of it and not get paid :o

Getting paid to sing at a recording studio??? How is that a waste of time????

She thinks I should be concentrating on finding a job

Thing is, I can do both

(I haven't actually told her I'm being paid for this here singing)

Ah ha!

;)

Nah. Thing is, even if I told her I'm being paid, she'd say the same. Her eyes glaze over whenever I talk about my hobby. She's not interested

She likes it when I'm in a band, though. Because that gives her an excuse to dress up for gigs and play the part of 'rock chick'

Salty, your songs sound a bit clearer, more high end...new recording?

No, I haven't recorded anything since April 2009

Maybe your ears are getting better with age ;)

It's not interesting, Its a serious proposition.

You started the "what would I have done in my past" thread.

So what would you sign up to today.

I'm just proposing an alternative ending.
:)

You know, I hardly slept last night worrying about this session vocals thing

I desperately want to do it but I haven't sung in a 'proper' recording studio since 1985, and I'm absolutely crapping my pants!

Might just have a drink before I set off...
