Members lz4005
I haven't seen it listed anywhere yet, but this pic was in a thread on another forum about new Fenders that are supposed to be available soon. 10 years or so ago Fender had a Dimension bass that was pretty much a flop. Apparently they're bringing back the name for another try. The 3 coil pickup is a little bit...da'fuq?...but who knows, maybe it will sound good. It's hard to judge from pics, but the nut width looks a lot more like a Jazz than a P bass. What do you think? edit: The one thing I'm sort of excited about with it is the truss rod adjustment wheel thingy at the heel of the neck. Those are so much easier to adjust than the traditional setup. Hopefully those find their way onto more instruments.
Members Perfessor
I have a hunch it will have a modern, heavy-on-the-mids tone. I'm not a real fan of that, but alot of people seem to like it.
Members lz4005
Yeah. That pickup location isn't usually my thing either.I'm wondering what kind of coil tapping, if any, it'll have. It'd be cool if there were push/pull switches on both those knobs so you'd have the option of single/dual/triple coil wiring.

It was MIM, had a skinny neck and a 2+2 style headstock. Seemed a lot more like one of those Yamaha RBX basses than any Fender. As for the pickup in the new Dimension bass, it looks like they borrowed the bridge pickup from the recent Modern Player Marauder guitar and likely (hopefully) rewound it with heavier gauge magnet wire and changed the magnet. The original Dimensions were introduced in 2004, discontinued in 2006.The same site where I found the bass pic said the Marauder won't be in the 2014 catalog. It wouldn't be the first time Fender has repurposed a guitar part for a bass or vice versa.
