I was looking at purchasing a Alesis QS 6.2. However, I am finding it difficult to find one in stock close enough to play around with it. Not too big a deal, really. I have a buddy with an 8.2, so I know the patches ok.

Anyway, the word at guitar Center is that after the next quarter they will not carry the keyboard anyway. Is it being rplaced? Is there another good keyboard in the 500 buck range that would do really good piano and string voicess for a guitar player who is adding some key sounds to some home recordings? Any info or opinions are welcome.

For the 500 buck range - well, Alesis is currently focussing on their Fusion range and I personally don't see a Fusion Lite in the future.

I think you'll have to choose another manufacturer, or go secondhand.

Roland Juno D $600.00

Yamaha DGX or PSR

I have owned the Alesis 8.2 and the JunoD. My Yamaha PSR 540 has ok piano sounds and killer strings, pads and organs as well as a 16 track recorder/sequencer. The alesis has better piano but the Roland had better synth type sounds. The Yamaha is still a better overall machine and I bought my second one for $200 used. Good luck.
