What are you trying to find out?

There is a unique sound effect on there I need. The only copy of an old studio recording I was planning on releasing very soon ended up accidently getting destroyed. I do not have access do this processor any longer and was hoping someone could do me a favor and record a short clip for me so I can re-create it. Quality doesnt matter much as long as it is decent.

btw, why do you call it a "processor"? Usually that word is reserved for effects, not synths...

Yes, I was also wondering that.

I dont know the patch name. But here is a clip of it. It should be pretty recgonizable.

clip

If anyone would be able to record a clip of that patch for me, it would be greatly appreciated. I could tab out what I was playing. It is very simple and basic.

thanks.

and I guess I am just used to calling any kind of rack unit a processor. :D:freak:

Cool.

And also I just wanted to say that your site has been a tremendous source of information. Being able to preview what something sounds like before possibly buying it on ebay is very useful.

I have also visited some of the adds you have on there.

Do the adds help you keep the site up and running? Do you ever track bandwidth to and from your site?

Thanks

The sound was made with a Roland JV-1010? Is it just one sound/track or is there more than one?

Thank you, Chas

your Rogue clips are up

The ads help a little bit, but I certainly don't make money off of them - 50 cents, one dollar a day....- basically I get even with the bandwidth expenses etc. I do track the statistics, and soon I'll have to upgrade to a new server if it keeps going like this (you know, mp3s take a lot of bandwidth). Thanks for visiting the ads.

After the summer vacations, I'm back at working on the site as time permits.

Okay, Kiss A Pistol:

I did a bit of category Patch surfing on the JV-2080, and at first didn't find a patch that sounded exactly like your example. The closest I had found was the "Glassy Pad" patch:

http://www.synthmania.com/temp/Glassy%20Pad.mp3

BUT

I then checked out the Performances, and sure enough Performance number one, "Strobe Pad 1", sounds like your JV-1010 sound, portamento and all. I tried to reproduce the line and also provided sustained solo notes ad the end so if you want and can, you can sample it. It is not 100%, because the JV-1010 came out after the 2080, and they probably changed some parameters, but it is similar. The MP3s are at 256 which should be hi-fi enough for most purposes. Hope this helps,

Awesome!!! That strobe pad 1 sounds a lot like it. That will definetely work. I shoudl eb able to re-create the song looping samples from that clip. Ironic you recorded the part at the end where you held down the one chord. It wasnt in my clip but it is at the end of the song so I totally needed that. :)

thanks a bunch!!!! I am very grateful for your effort to help.

You caught my reply before I edited. :) Even better, because I was having some trouble trying to loop bits and peices of that first clip into the full song. thanks again. Hopefully I can make the vocals work with this new sound. The old vocal riff doesnt quite seem to work anymore.

Unmastered of course. Link is in my sig. Song is Autumn Curse. Hopefully the mix is okay. I am no good at mixing.

thanks for the comments. Did you have any opinion on the distant vocals in Autumn Curse? Sometimes I like them and sometimes I think they make it sound like too much is going on at once which might get distracting from the dreamy sound of it. I havent decided if I want to keep them in the mix or keep it purely a instrumental yet.

Actually I would bring the vocals (and the flute) a lot more up in the front. They sound cool in the background too, but they give me a very eerie sensation (but maybe you want that :D )
