Members SamAB87
Any idea what this guy uses? I'm aware he runs his equipment through a lot of reverb pedals, and uses a Fender Jaguar, but anyone know about keyboards?
Members syncretism
Track #2 on _Dead Cities..._ closes on what sounds a lot like an Elektron Monomachine {that vocoderish bit}. I reckon there could be a fair amount of Mono on that first album.

Members sleepykeith
i have no suggestions to offer... but that band single handedly got me into synths. i've been trying to achieve those sounds with no success ever since. i just assumed it was all soft stuff and a crap load of plug ins. Members operator_error
Here is a link of them playing live on KCRW's "morning becomes ecclectic". I don't have real player on my comp, so I can't see what he's using, but I've seen the video before and it shows his eqiupment upclose. Great video as well... http://kcrw.com/smil/mb050503M83.ram

I hate doing this but I'm afraid having to correct you here, the Mono wasn't out yet when the album was released, the effect you're referring to is easily achieved with a vocoder and an arpeggiated synth patch (I did it with a MAM VFII Vocoder and the NL2x). It sounds so much like a parameter-locked VO machine. O, well, thanks for the correction.
Members donaldcrunk
indeed, most of their synth is jx305 as an earlier person suggested. crazy! not sure about the vocoded bit.
