Members Suilebhain
My new (used) X-Station arrived with a key that sticks up due to a shoddy packing job and the cheap-o plastic bracket on the underside of the key breaking. It is the high-C key so it is slightly different in structure than the others having a wider bracket. I can replace the key if I can get one. Has anyone ever located a source for replacement items like this? Thanks in advance.
Members ElectricPuppy
Man I hate getting broken gear delivered. If it were me: I'd take it apart and see if the broken piece is an individual per-key part. If so, then check with Novation and see if they'll send you one. If the part was molded on a larger piece (like, say, the entire keybed frame), then you're SOL and will have to replace the whole thing. I might even consider sending it back to the seller and demanding a refund.
Members Suilebhain
Great minds thinking alike. The first thing I did was open it up. The key can be replaced IF I can get one. The problem is, the distributor in Caliphoney wants to sell me the whole keybed for $168 when it only requires removing the white plastic part of the key and sliding a new one into place. I have contacted Novation (thought it was Novation in the UK but it seems I have been bumped back to the US, probably the same folks though I hope not). The seller has said that he would reimburse me for expenses but I think I am going to have to discuss sending it back. What really sucks is that two more 25's have come and gone for less than I paid for mine. No one should be allowed to sell a keyboard over eBay until they swear that they will either use the original packaging or wrap the puppy in a mile of bubble wrap before putting it into an outer box. Ain't it the truth. I seriously overpacked the SQ-80 I sold because I was all paranoid that it would arrive in pieces.
Members Suilebhain
I bought a K2VX from eBay for a really good price and when it arrived at my pickup location they advised me not to accept and to send it back because the box was trashed. However, the guy who shipped it wrapped it up in bubble wrap so the board was completely unharmed and totally functioning.
