Members Hibiscus Ro
I bought a Novation Remote Le and love it. I have opportunity to get a Yamaha Motif ES rack for under $600. I was wondering if I should go for that or return the Novation and get a full Synth. I will use it for recording and live work. I can only spend around $800.Thanks

Members Hibiscus Ro
I like ELP, Yes, Floyd etc. I need a great piano sound and classic synths, hammond etc. Playing occasional live work, more for studio, experimental.

Members KJI
It's a very open question, and it all depends on what works for you, really. If you're doing more studio work, and work with a lot of softsynths, then you might miss the usefulness of the Remote Le compared to a full synth. An ES rack+simple controller would take up less space, which might or might not be important to you. If you plan to use the ES rack as your main bread and butter, then maybe just getting the full keyboard version would be more useful. Could go both ways in gig situations, really. Maybe you'd like the somewhat lighter setup of a controller+rack, but it's definitely more of a hassle to setup compared to just 1 keyboard. Hmm, what can you get for around $800? That would be another question, which I really can't answer, living here in Korea. My $0.02: the ES rack sounds like a pretty good deal, especially if you're happy with the Remote Le. But unless you plan to be using a lot of softsynths, having the full keyboard version of a synth is in my personal more enjoyable. YMMV, of course
