I have a Masterworks phonograph that plays 78's and I want to wire in a set of lt/rt rca outputs so I can record to comp hd for cd's. I've tried coming off the wires from the needle but no go. Gotta be careful not to wire directly to same power trans. as the needle wires. May cause some damage to sound card in my comp. Anyone out there know how to do this?

You would have to tap the signal after the preamp and use some kind of buffer or cap to prevent the bias from coming across. You can also use an attenuator off the speaker. Radio shack makes an attenuator cable for around $5 that steps it down to line level mono. Still with the age of the player the noise/hum may suck pretty bad. You can buy all kinds of turntable amp combinations for peanuts at garage sales/ flea markets/ ebay that have variable speeds for 78s and have line levels out. the fidelity may be better as well for recording.
