Members WRGKMC
A phaser is basicaly a wah tone circuit with an LFO. I personally like it earley in the chain before or after compression to get a hendrix wah type sound. Some like them after distortion but for me all I hear is the heavy wave effect there with littel tonal benifits. I find time based devices work better there like chorus, echo and reverb in that order. I also find those work better in an effects loop where that get hit by gain distortion in the preamp sections. As with anything though you can experiment with any order you want. An example of a long chain can be Guitar > Compression > Wah > Phaser > EQ > Overdrive > Distortion > EQ > Chorus > Echo > Reverb > Amp > Speaker. A variartion to this can be Guitar > Compression > Wah > Phaser > EQ > Overdrive > Distortion > EQ > Preamp section of amp> Effects loop out to > Chorus > Echo > Reverb > Effects loop in to > power amp stage of amp > Speaker. A variartion to this for recording can be Guitar > Compression > Wah > Phaser > EQ > Overdrive > Distortion > EQ > Chorus > Amp > Speaker > Microphone > Echo > Reverb > Recording Interface
