Members ConfessorT
Been a fixer-upper and general guitar tech for some time now and have hit something of an impasse. Since I have the space, inclination and perserverence I'm taking the next steps to build my own. Hiscox has been read, reread and kept on hand. Are there any other recommended study materials along the same lines? May be ambitious but first on the list is a short-scale 7 extrapolated from my venerable Jackson Fusion. Members MahaloVision
The Classics include Bob Benedetto's book, very helpful for hollow and semi-hollow electrics as well as archtops. Also Cumpiano and Natelson "Guitarmaking: Tradition and Technology" and David Russell Young's book, but geared towards acoustics. You'll still find lots of useful building information in these even if you build nothing but planks . Also suggest Larry Robinson's "The Art of Inlay". Also the Big Red Books from the Guild of American Luthiers.
Members ConfessorT
Many thanks for the suggestions folks. Don't think I have the skills yet to be doing archtops and accoustics but I'll definitely give the suggested material a look see. I'm sticking to planks for now (hopefully good looking a well playing planks though).
