I understand it is a Groove Tubes GT55 manufactured under a private label for Guitar Center. I'm assuming it is made in China like pretty much all LDC mics under about $500 these days. Does anyone know how these compare in quality to a GT55? Clearly the same design and FET circuitry, but same capsule? Same transformer? Any known QA issues? Members I was The Funk Posted October 19, 2009 Members Share Posted October 19, 2009 this is an age old question (well, actually dating to around 2005). From what I understand, its the same mic as the groove tubes designs. GT now makes slightly different mics (labeled differently) that are improvements, but the ST55 should be exactly the same as the old GT55. Which is a bland, but very capable mic.
