Members mikestix78
Anybody play one of these, also have any sound clips of the snare? i've watched dozens of videos of akira playing with it, but i just wanted to hear it from a different "angle" i guess. I'm really interested in getting one- i play in a rock band and a fusion/funkish/pop band so i'm guessing from the size it has a pretty wide tunability. I like Akira's tone, but I guess i was wondering if anybody played it with a lower tuning. thanks!
Members FitchFY
One of my good friends had one, but unfortunately some damage occured to it and it's now out of commission. Prior to that, it was an AWESOME sounding drum! I think he did some recordings with it somewhere... let me see if I can find one for you!
Members FitchFY
www.myspace.com/adambilz1 - check out the track "That Hermano Guy" - it's used sparingly, but that was the Akira Jimbo snare. It recorded incredibly easily and projects quite nicely. The wood rims are pretty hot, too.
Members Jarick
I've got a 7x13, and it's got a limited tuning range, but sounds sweet in that range. Better for higher tunings IMO. Those wood rims would probably kill on backbeats and rim clicks though.
Members mikestix78
Hey Fitch, did the 6 lugs limit/expand the tunability of the drum? if it did anything at all? usually 13 inchers come with 8 lugs...also did it have a wide tuning range or did it have a somewhat limited one like jarick mentioned about his?
