Here is a pic of the snares I own, I just bought the gretsch off of e-bay and can't find a positive ID anywhere, the badge just says Gretsch nothing else, all black hardware...ex owner says it was a mohogney catalina but all the cats ive seen on the net are 8 lug..this is a ten lug ..any help?

well, looking at this one last night it has a snare bed. Its not as prominant of on as say my pearl masters snare, but its there. the shell on the gretsch reminds me of my old pearl maxwin drum shells, which are suppose to be mahogony and another wood. does a mohogony shell look solid like a maple(mostly on color in the layers) or does it look mixed in a way? I did notice when tuning this thing, I started with a DD and when you turn the lugs the dial doesn,t move fluidly like my masters shells, probably just the cheaper hardware or the bearing edge.
